If you’re reading this you have likely taught an MSHE course remotely. As we move toward more in-person learning, consider the learning approaches you used in Zoom and other integrated technologies and how these could work for your next class.
I highly encourage you to read this brief guide from The Chronicle of Higher Education, called “Active Learning for a Post-Pandemic World.” It skims the ideas several professors, across various disciplines at different types of institutions, used in their classrooms and how these approaches can still be effective if done in person.
Ideas include:
- Small, cohort group learning
- Responsiveness to student pace, student style of learning (read more about inclusive approaches via Universal Design for Learning)
- Survey class on their go-to learning styles
- Institutional commitment to faculty support and resources
Enjoy this read. As always, please contact Chris Neary at christopher.neary@northwestern.edu if you have questions or ideas!
