Congratulations to Dr. Pertusi, the latest graduate of the Tyo Lab!  Below, he is rocking the hood at his June 17th Commencement.  Dante started his new position at Merck this spring.

The Management for Scientists and Engineers certificate program is offered by the Graduate School in partnership with the Kellogg School of Management to provide post-candidacy doctoral students with the opportunity to learn business and leadership skills from Kellogg Faculty.  Alexandra was selected to participate in the 2016 course.  Congratulations!

Andrea was awarded a 2016 Summer Undergraduate Research Award for her proposal entitled: Developing a DNA Polymerase-Based Biosensor for Neural Recording.

 

We are proud to announce PhD candidate, Bola Adeniran, has received the 2016  Northwestern Presidential Fellowship. The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious fellowship awarded to graduate students at Northwestern. It is funded by the President of the University and awarded by The Graduate School.

PhD candidate, Bola Adeniran, has been awarded a 2015  Howard Hughes Medical Institute Gilliam Fellowship for Advanced Study. This fellowship recognizes her exceptional academic and personal achievements and reflects HHMI’s confidence in her great potential to become a leader in academic science.

 

 

 

In a competition of skill and strength, the Computationalists collected the most points. Events included: biotech trivia, straw and paper clip DNA design, and a team precision test with water and food coloring

This program provides Ph.D. students with the opportunity to develop their leadership as well as leadership in others. In addition, Fellows are introduced to the major theories, thinkers and frameworks for the study and practice of effective leadership.
