Events

We also seek to provide informatics students with opportunities to engage with students and researchers across the university and the Chicagoland area.

  • AI@NU Lecture SeriesEach Wednesday evening, a talk on a separate aspect of AI is presented.  These include both internal and external speakers.
  • Big Ten Augmented Intelligence Bowl – A cross-institutional competition to bring together medicine and computer science talent from the 14 institutions of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. The 2021 Big Ten AI Bowl challenges students to use augmented intelligence to solve a problem that addresses health disparities.
  • Biomedical Data Science Day (BDSD)Once each year, I.AIM sponsors a full day session devoted to the unique data science challenges created by biomedicine. Historically, HBMI students have been major contributors, often leading breakout sessions. All trainees will present current work, either in poster or podium form. Visiting lecturers will provide outside perspective. This is because the event has become so popular that it is typically oversubscribed by several hundred.
  • Chicago Informatics JamEvery autumn, the informatics programs across Chicago (NU, UCI, UofC, Rush, and Loyola) have a half-day conference highlighting informatics education and research at the various sites.  The hosting site rotates. Trainees from each site are highlighted for podium presentations and a poster session allow for a broad representation of BIDS research.
  • Data Science/ AI Career Nights – Monthly hack nights on popular data science topics, organized by NU graduate students and scholars.
  • I.AIM Lecture Series – A monthly lecture series focused on augmented intelligence in medicine. Guest speakers bring academic and industry expertise.
