Welcome to the State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) Dashboard
The SUDORS Dashboard is a powerful tool for discovering insights into unintentional drug overdose deaths throughout Illinois. It offers interactive features and the option to download data as PDFs.
SUDORS is part of the Overdose Data to Action-States (OD2AS) initiative funded by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Illinois SUDORS is housed at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, in the Buehler Center for Health Policy and Economics. To operate SUDORS on behalf of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Northwestern University serves as a bona fide agent of IDPH. Illinois is one of 49 states and the District of Columbia., funded by the CDC to collect data on drug overdose deaths. Data come from death certificates, medical examiner/coroner, toxicology and autopsy reports.
How to Use the Dashboard
- Visit the TOC Page: To explore the dashboard, start by visiting the Table of Contents (TOC) page.
- Download the Entire Workbook: On the TOC page, you will find a download button to download the entire workbook as a PDF.
- Navigate Individual Pages: Click on the related buttons on the TOC page to visit each specific page. The selection of Year, County, and Region on each page will dynamically control the entire workbook, ensuring all data is consistent with your chosen parameters. However, you can change these selections at any time to update the data and analysis accordingly.
Downloading PDFs
- Specific Page PDF: To download a PDF of a specific page, look for the download icon (📥) at the bottom right of the dashboard. Click the down arrow and choose your preferred download format.
Data Suppression Notice
- Data Counts: Please note that counts of less than five are suppressed to protect privacy, except for total death counts where counts of less than five are not suppressed.

- Return to Northwestern’s Website: Click the Northwestern logo at the top right corner to return to our website.
- Visit IDPH’s Opioid Data Dashboard: Click the IDPH logo at the top right side of the dashboard to visit the Illinois Opioid Data Dashboard.
