Meals with Strangers (MwS) is a way for graduate women at Northwestern to meet and connect over a delicious meal at a restaurant in Chicago or Evanston. Parties are no larger than six students in order to have a close-knit, friendly environment, where individuals can meet friends from different departments.
GWAN aims to host 4-5 meals per quarter (excluding the summer). GWAN offers opportunities for women interested in hosting a meal, as well as women who would like to attend a meal. A call for MwS hosts and attendees is made at the beginning of every quarter (be sure to join the listserv to receive these notices). If demand exceeds available spots, a lottery system will be used to select participants.
Hosting a Meal
As the host, you get the fun job of picking out a restaurant to host the meal and coordinating the dinner! The cost of the meal is reimbursed through GWAN. Details about budget, reimbursements, and dining options will be emailed to those expressing interest in hosting.
Attending a Meal
As an attendee, you will be matched to a host/meal based on preference (Chicago vs. Evanston) and have the opportunity to attend the delicious meal with a group of diverse women!
MwS is coordinated by our social chair(s). If you are interested in hosting and/or attending a meal, please email us at gwan at u dot northwestern dot edu.
This program is co-sponsored by theĀ Northwestern International Office.
