Please join Graduate Women Across Northwestern (GWAN) in a roundtable discussion on issues of challenges facing women in academia with Prof. Kimberly Gray, department chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Prof. Luisa Arispe, department chair of Cell and Developmental Biology. They will be sharing their career paths and their experience as women leaders in academia. We will also be discussing gender equity in academia, career paths for female scientists, work-life balance, etc. Please RSVP and submit any questions that you might have or issues that you would like to discuss during the event here.

  1. The obstacles for women are present at all stages, including hiring, letters of recommendation, student evaluations, peer reviews, awarding. We understanding of the issues. In order to explore the challenges and issues facing women in academic medicine in some depth, two focus groups were held.
