ARDEI in ChBE at Northwestern

About the NU ChBE ARDEI Committee

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE)’s Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ARDEI) Committee at Northwestern University is composed of undergraduates, graduates, faculty, and staff stakeholders who work together to bring about positive change. The committee is currently co-chaired by a faculty member and a graduate student. Bi-weekly meetings provide an opportunity for thoughtful discussions and progress updates on our initiatives, while subgroups move forward on initiatives separately. We welcome anyone in our broader engineering community to collaborate with our committee by emailing us your interest at ChBE_ARDEI@northwestern.edu.

Creators of this workshop are or were former and graduated members of this committee and developed this workshop as part of the committee efforts.

ChBE ARDEI Committee Initiatives and Updates

The ChBE ARDEI Committee is working on a variety of initiatives that involve improving equity and social justice in the climate/culture of and curriculum within the department. Development of this workshop is just one of many initiatives the committee has worked on since it’s creation in Summer 2020. You can learn more about these initiatives on the ChBE ARDEI Committee website, where they list information about current initiatives, quarterly updates on progress toward past and current initiatives, committee contact information, and a list of Northwestern Student Groups for students to find affinity groups/communities of interest.
