Getting to know Adrian alongside my hometown friends and one of my favorite bands, Young the Giant, during Dillo Day 2018. My second favorite (sorry, I know it wasn’t asked but I wanted to acknowledge this person’s impact on my life) is meeting Prof. Schwandt (in the SESP dept.), who has been a true mentor to me and who gave me the chance to be his RA (it was so exciting to see my name on the bottom of the first page of his paper).

Looking back, what have been your takeaways from your experiences this past year?
I used to wonder how Emily Dickinson could love a world she never really saw. Now I understand how she could love people and everything they have to offer, despite being a recluse. In this last year, the lack of chances to be around people allowed me to understand and appreciate how important, inspiring and wonderful it is to have a world filled with people. While I am excited to graduate, I do wish I could have one last chance at learning alongside people in a classroom.
