This minisymposium invites papers focused on mechanics and physics of phononic crystals and metamaterials, which have the ability to manipulate via particular microstructures the wave propagation behavior in terms of frequency band gap, negative reflection, spatial energy transfer, etc. These exotic wave behaviors enable the design of new devices in diverse applications ranging from acoustic filters and resonators, noise isolation, and wave guides to superlenses and acoustic diodes. It has been shown in recent years that nonlinearities and multifield couplings can provide additional functionalities for acoustic wave devices. Papers regarding linear and nonlinear wave propagation and control related to above topics highlighting experimental, theoretical and computational aspects are welcome. Potential topics include, but not limited to:

•Nonlinear phononic crystals and metamaterials•Dissipative phononic crystals and metamaterials

•Tunable/active/intelligent phononic crystals and metamaterials

•Soft phononic crystals and metamaterials•Nanoscaled phononic crystals and metamaterials

•Phoxonic crystals and optomechanics•Topological phononic crystals•Granular crystals

•Optimization design of phononic crystals and metamaterials•Linear/nonlinear wave propagation and vibration in periodic structures

•Dynamic homogenization of periodic media

•Computational methods for phononic crystals and metamaterials

•Experimental methods for phononic crystals and metamaterials

•Emerging applications of phononic crystals and metamaterials
