Dislocation Dynamics (DD) models have the unique advantage of exploring the activity of dislocations that are the major carrier of plastic deformation in crystalline materials. To advance the application of DD models in predicting mechanical behaviors of polycrystalline/multiphase materials, mechanistic study of many deformation processes including nucleation, motion, and reaction of dislocations with other defects (point defects, line defects, planar defects) in grains and at boundaries requires multi-scale perspective from atomic scale to continuum scale. This minisymposium aims to facilitate meaningful exchange of ideas between experts engaged in various aspects of research related to the development of DD models.
