Coffee and Discussion on Women in STEM
On March 22, we held a coffee and bagel discussion on women in STEM. Prior to our discussion, we read an article from the Atlantic on STEM gender equality vs. country gender equality, and watched this video (which has been quite controversial) on the pay gap, the role men play, and more. This led to an hour of great discussion on these topics, but also discussions on negotiation.
Coffee and Discussion
Today we held a discussion about where we want WESAM to go over the next year. We decided upon more professional outreach, interspersed with coffee chats on interesting articles that we find. We also spent today discussing what we as women can do to help with the recruiting of women and minority PhD students to the department.
