Members of WESAM and ESAM Participated this weekend in GROW-Graduate Research Opportunities for Women here at Northwestern. It was a great weekend of outreach for college sophomores-seniors, and we hope that our efforts help those women in their graduate school decisions.

ESAM Professor Danny Abrams participated in a panel on academic careers in mathematics, ESAM Professor David Chopp on a panel on how to get into grad school, and multiple WESAM members participated in general discussions, mentoring, and outreach with attendees.

 

Haley Yaple, an alum of ESAM and current professor at Carthage College, joined us for dinner at Northwestern to tell us about her job search experience and her day-to-day life at Carthage College. It was a treat to hear about her teaching responsibilities as well as her involvement with undergraduate research projects. She compiled some great job hunt advice – please see below!
