Carter Cast

Carter Cast: Questions That Have No Right to Go Away

Carter Cast is a clinical professor at the Kellogg School of Management and also a venture partner at Pritzker Group Venture Capital. He was formerly the CEO of Walmart.com and prior to that, the founding chief marketing officer of Blue Nile, Inc. the leading seller of diamonds and jewelry on the Internet. Before that, Carter was the director of marketing at Frito Lay, where he and his team developed Tostitos Scoops and launched the salsa and dip product line. Carter teaches entrepreneurship at Kellogg and has received the Faculty Impact Award by his students each year from 2012-2017, as well as the Sidney J. Levy award for teaching excellence, in 2018. In his role as a venture capitalist, Carter examines potential investments and advises portfolio companies. Carter sits on the board of Kellogg Company, SMS Assist and the Family Action Network. Carter is also the author of a new book, The Right (and Wrong) Stuff: How Brilliant Careers are Made – and Unmade, which was released in January, 2018. Publishers Weekly gave Carter’s book a “buy” rating and Business Insider called it “one of 17 must-read books of 2018.Carter has a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
