Kurt Eide is a first-year graduate student studying trombone performance. He earned his B.M. in Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College, where he studied with Dr. Hal Reynolds, Jeffery Gray, and Timothy Smith. During his time in Ithaca, he had the opportunity to perform with some of the premier groups of the Finger Lakes region, including the Ithaca Brass and the Fall Creek Brass Band. He was also the President of the Ithaca College Trombone Troupe, serving as a replacement conductor for the group and running frequent trombone choir and jazz improvisation clinics for young trombonists from around New York State. He spent his summers studying at the Eastern Music Festival, the DC Trombone Workshop, and the Third Coast Trombone Retreat. Kurt was selected as the winner of the Third Coast Trombone Retreat Mock Audition in 2021 and was a finalist in the 2020 Ithaca College Concerto Competition. In his free time, Kurt enjoys composition, birdwatching, and playing chess.
