Holden Welch

Senior

 

Holden Welch is a Junior from Jonesboro, Arkansas and will be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Trombone Performance. Holden began playing the trombone in the 7th grade and has loved making music ever since. During his high school career, Holden had the privilege of studying under Ronal Foster (former member of the United States Marine Band) and Bruce Faske (2nd trombonist of the Arkansas Symphony). Holden is a three-time Arkansas All-State Wind Symphony and Jazz Band member. Holden has performed with the Honor Band of America and Honor Orchestra of America presented at the Music for All national festival every year. Holden is a member of the Delta Symphony Orchestra, a professional orchestra in his home town. Holden loves playing in gigs around town and has performed with Big Bands, Combos, Brass Quintets, Brass Trios, and (his personal favorite) Dixieland bands. During the summer, Holden participated in the Interlochen Arts Camp where he performed with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. Holden has witnessed and performed in masterclasses with Larry Zalkind, Mark Kellogg, Mark Lusk, Gerry Pagano, Jonathan Whitaker, Nathan Zgonc, Brian Hecht, Martin Schippers, and Brian Bowman. Holden has had the privilege to work individually with Jonathan Lombardo, Jeremy Wilson, and Justin Cook. Holden will be studying under Michael Mulcahy, Randall Hawes, Timothy Higgins, Douglas Wright, and Christopher P. Davis. As a teacher himself, Holden enjoys instructing young players and encouraging them to keep practicing! Nonmusical hobbies that Holden enjoys include running, biking, pointing, and definitely eating delicious food!
