Freshman
Harry Guan is a Freshman from the California Bay Area pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Trombone Performance and Computer Science. In high school, Harry studied with Tom Hornig and Nick Platoff, and has played principal for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra as well as the California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra for many years. He has played in the California All-State Honor Ensembles for all four years in high school, while also chosen as a participant of the Honor Band of America and Interlochen Trombone Intensive as well as an alternate for the National Youth Orchestra (NYO-USA). He also founded and led his school ensemble, the Homestead Brass Quintet, in performances around the greater Bay Area and the prestigious Kennedy Center. Later in high school, Harry played concerts with local university ensembles, including the Stanford Philharmonia and the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra. Harry will be studying under Michael Mulcahy, Randall Hawes, Timothy Higgins, Douglas Wright, and Christopher P. Davis. Aside from trombone, Harry enjoys drawing, reading, coding, and singing horrendously at karaoke nights.
