Caleb Christiansen

Junior

Caleb’s journey as a trombonist actually began with a trumpet. His time as a trumpeter was short lived as he made the switch to the trombone upon entering high school. After a year of playing tenor trombone, he made another change, this time to the bass trombone.  He played in both the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra during his high school career.

During high school he had the privilege to study with Ron Christiansen, Jeff Taylor, Christopher Davis, Megumi Kanda, and Michael Mulcahy.  He has performed in masterclasses with Christopher Davis and Brad Edwards, and was selected to perform in Michel Mulcahy’s masterclass series for two summers. He has performed under the batons of Riccardo Muti, Allen Tinkham, Carter Simmons, and Margery Deutsch.

A native of America’s Dairyland, Caleb can often be found milking cows on the family farm. Caleb is known for his big sound and his even bigger heart. He loves long walks on the beach and cuddle time.
