5 more days

Hey everyone,

Let me introduce myself to you briefly. I’m Victor, 20 years old, born and raised in the city of Chicago all my life. It’s time for some exploring, being in a different environment, and seeing how well I can cope and become my full potential in Hong Kong as I study abroad at HKUST for four months. Hong Kong was the perfect match for me, as it represents a location in which I wish to work in the future, as it embodies my native culture, heritage and language, and I get a chance to live in Asia for a long period of time.

Over this summer, there have been days where I felt that this wasn’t real yet, and some days it would hit me that I would be studying in a country completely across the world from what I have known all my life.

I’ve already connected with my exchange buddy partner, Elaine, and she has been very helpful in advising me. My subletter for my apartment here in Evanston, Andrei, is an MBA exchange student from HKUST, so I have been talking to him as well, in addition to my cousin and friend who have both had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad there within the past year.

My expectations for the program are high to say the least, and I know that there will be days of just working hard and studying, but I’m truly excited to have this great chance to develop myself in a foreign land. I hope to bring back the experiences and skills and share them with everyone.

Best,

Victor
