Leaving

By Victoria Hwang, Public Health in Europe, Fall 2012

My bags are packed. My clothes are washed, folded, and squashed into my suitcase. My room is cleaned.

In a few hours I will be boarding a plane and leaving Paris.

It didn’t even really hit me until yesterday that I would be leaving, that the following quarter I would be returning to Evanston to again take Northwestern classes, walking around campus again, seeing all my friends and hanging out with them again…It seems too weird after such an incredible, eye-opening, and amazing time studying abroad and exploring a new city.

I will certainly miss my host mom, my room, the convenience of the metro, the way people are so well dressed here, the macarons, the late-night crêpe stands, the coffee (it’s sooo much stronger here!), and so many other aspects of Parisian life, but most of all I will miss learning something new about another culture every day. This has certainly been an amazing experience, and I recommend everyone to study abroad!

Au revoir, ma belle ville, à bientôt !
