Add a YubiKey as an Other Option for DUO MFA

*YubiKey can be added as an additional device or a stand-alone device for DUO MFA*
  1. Navigate to any Duo MFA login page, such as CAESAR for students, myHR or Outlook Web Application for faculty and staff using a private or incognito browser window.
  2. Sign in with your Northwestern email address on the Microsoft login page.
  3. On the next page enter your NetID and password in the Passport window.
  4. Choose “Other options” in the DUO Authentication prompt.
  5. Click “Manage devices”: You’ll be directed to authenticate with a registered Duo device.
  6. Select Add a device”. From the menu choose “Select Security Key
  7. Your computer will detect the type of YubiKey you have, with a sensor or without a sensor.
  8. In the pop-up window, under more choices select “Security key”, Next. If you have a sensor on your key, it will ask you to touch the sensor to save a code on the key.
    1. Note: To save the code on the YubiKey, you must choose “Security key” from the menu.
  9. Lastly, a window will confirm that the key has been created for your account. Click “Ok” to complete setup.
