My career journey
Before joining the distance learning team at SPS, Courtnay earned a BA in philosophy from Vassar College. She worked in advertising and later publishing before discovering her passion for online education in 2006. Since then, Courtnay has worked with subject matter experts, media developers, and editors to help create content- and media-rich online courses for undergraduate and graduate level students.
My inspiration
As a lifelong learner, Courtnay has always been interested in meeting experts in various fields and asking them questions about their experiences. She enjoys helping them discover creative ways to make learning fun and engaging for their students.
Where I’m from/Where I am at
Courtnay lives with her husband and two daughters in the western suburbs of Chicago.
My interests outside of work
Courtnay enjoys spending time in nature with her family and friends. She also plays several instruments, writes songs, and hosts occasional jam sessions with her neighbors.
Rewards of my job
The most rewarding part of this role is the opportunity to meet fascinating people who are passionate about their fields and then helping them find unique ways to inspire their students.
