The Team

Meet our lab members!

Reach out directly to Prof. Chazot (cchazot@northwestern.edu) for any inquiry about our open positions. Provide information about you, your research and outreach interest, and how it relates to the SPIn lab activities.

Current NU graduate students, please contact our graduate students (spin_lab@northwestern.edu) for research inquiries and collaborations.

Cécile A. C. Chazot

Principal Investigator

Julia Weertman Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering

Cécile Chazot (she/her/hers) joined Northwestern University in January 2023. She earned her PhD in Materials Science & Engineering (DMSE) at MIT in May 2022, where she worked as a MathWorks fellow under the supervision of Prof. A. John Hart on the development of low temperature manufacturing methods based on interfacial polymerization. She received a M.Sc in Materials Science and Engineering from Mines Paristech (France). Prior to pursuing a PhD at MIT, she led research in bio-inspired photonics and optical properties of materials in academia and industry across the US, the UK, and France. Her work lies at the interface of polymer chemistry, mechanical engineering, photonics, and fiber-based materials. Cécile also strives to fuse educational initiatives with innovation in materials and manufacturing, which led her to receive the Arthur Nowick Award and a Silver Graduate Student Award at the 2021 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fall Meeting. She is also a co-founder of the Materials Initiative for Comprehensive Research Opportunity (MICRO), a remote educational program to empower minoritized undergraduates to conduct materials research.
