Every year, SION invites a distinguished scholar in the field of social interaction and organizing to visit Northwestern University and share their knowledge and experience with our interdisciplinary community of PhD students and faculty. The residency provides students an opportunity to learn from and cultivate a relationship with a renowned scholar of organizations from outside Northwestern. Unlike departmental colloquia, which fly speakers out for a single research talk and often feature limited student interaction, the residency includes a string of events aimed at building lasting connections between students and a visiting faculty member.
