Free Password Manager for Android

In the News

Password security is crucial, but staying organized with so many passwords can be challenging. In Mozilla’s free password manager, Firefox Lockbox, launches on Android, Sarah Perez at TechCrunch discusses the availability of Firefox’s separate and free password manager app, which serves the same function as passwords stored in the browser, but in one consolidated app. Perez clarifies that this app does not perform additional password protection functions, but states that thousands have already downloaded this free service on iOS devices.

Our Take

While it may be easier to use one password for all of your accounts, it is well known that this is not the best or safest option to secure your various online accounts and the personal information stored within them. Password managers help organize your various passwords and provide tips on how to further secure your accounts. For many, Firefox Lockbox can be a useful tool and introduction to password managers, especially for accounts not containing highly sensitive information. For accounts containing confidential information such as financial or healthcare information, opting out of storing your password in your browser and choosing to use a more fortified password manager is the safer option.
