Our Take

Practicing safe online habits is crucial to maintain the privacy of your personal information and potentially, the security of your financial information. For individuals who have been using advanced technology their entire lives, the daily routine and familiarity of technology can often lead to a decreased sense of caution regarding privacy and security concerns. Especially with generations who might not have financial accounts set up or extensive personal information stored on platforms outside of social media, the stakes of privacy exposure may be thought of as low. However, establishing safe online habits at a young age can ensure that as technology evolves, you are better prepared to protect yourself from the risks of cyber-crime. For starters, password safety practices are a necessity to establish at a young age. Passwords defend your information from exposure as a first line of defense. Additionally, learning more about cyber-crime in the news, especially for collegeage students and young professionals can provide a glimpse into the reality and dangers of cyber-crime.
