Zachary Mast

I am a joint PhD student in the Chen and Schatz groups interested in using computational chemistry and spectroscopy to investigate the mechanisms of energy relevant systems. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to designing more sustainable and effective catalysts by discerning how electronic structure influences fundamental chemical processes.

I was raised along the front range in Northern Colorado near Fort Collins. I attended the University of Colorado Boulder where I double majored in Chemistry and Music. My undergraduate research was primarily focused on inorganic synthesis and electrochemical catalysis with Dr. Oana Luca.

My other passions are arts of all variety, escaping to nature, and finding free food.
