Yue Wu

I am a graduate student in Chemistry Department, jointly advised by Prof. Schatz and Prof. Weiss. I grew up in Shanghai, China. Before coming to Northwestern, I attended Peking University for my undergraduate and earned my B.S. in Chemistry. In my undergraduate, my research mainly focuses on the nanofabrication of two-dimensional nanomaterials and exploring their optoelectronic properties.

Currently my research interest is the hybrid nanostructures composed of plasmonic nanoparticles and molecules or semiconductor excitons. I have studied the mechanism of plasmon-driven electron transfer process with surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and DFT calculations. I also explored the emission properties (emission rate, spectral diffusion behavior) of single semiconductor quantum dot with plasmonic nanoshell structure.

Outside the lab I enjoy reading science fictions, watching movies, and playing strategy computer games like Civilization VI and Europa Universalis IV. I also enjoy playing the game of Go, although I am still at the beginner level.
