Danqing Wang
I am a PhD candidate in the Applied Physics program and co-advised by Prof. George Schatz and Prof. Teri Odom since 2013. Before coming to Northwestern, I received my B.A. degree in Physics from Nanjing University, China.
My research focuses on the light-matter interaction between gain medium and hierarchical plasmonic structures such as Au nanoparticle superlattices. This work involves a combination of nanofabrication, optical characterization and detection as well as electrodynamic simulations with finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) methods. A primary goal of my work is to apply nanomaterial design to light generating and information storage for on-chip photonic integration.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, sailing and running outdoors (depending on the season) as well as reading, writing and cooking indoors.
