I’m Leah, a 4th year PhD candidate at Northwestern University’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, advised by Prof. Seth Stein, co-advised by Susan Hough of the U.S. Geological Survey, and advised in MS Statistics by Prof. Bruce Spencer.
I like to use computers and statistics to understand large earthquake behavior and seismic hazards.
My current research projects include:
- CHIMP (California Historical Intensity Mapping Project), a database of seismic intensity shaking for all of California over the past 160 years. Follow us on twitter @NU_ CHIMP !
- Long-Term Fault Memory, an update to the traditional earthquake cycle model which allows a fault’s past to influence its future probability of an earthquake. (Check out the manuscript on the Publications page!)
