Research Resources Forum

The Research Resources Forum (RRF) is a two-day conference designed to introduce graduate students to the many resources available to them at Northwestern University Libraries. Students will have the opportunity to meet with librarians and subject specialists who will help guide their research whether on campus or remotely. RRF is presented in collaboration with the majority of the schools and disciplines university-wide.

Session Types

Plenaries
These sessions are designed to familiarize attendees with general library services. The first plenary will cover logging into your account, NUsearch, using Interlibrary Loan, accessing materials, and graduate student-specific library services. The second plenary will cover citation management using EndNote and Zotero.

Concurrent Sessions
These interdisciplinary sessions are designed to familiarize attendees with a topic, tool, resource, or service that the Libraries offer. Some are hands-on sessions, while others are lecture-based. Audience participation is encouraged in both types.

Connect Sessions
During these sessions, attendees will meet their subject librarians and get an introduction to subject-specific resources. Librarians will start building relationships with their constituents by facilitating an activity or conducting a presentation highlighting key services and resources.

Tours
These sessions are tours of library spaces and key resources/services in that space; or are tours of the library with a focus on a subject area or focus.

We expect all RRF program participants and speakers to help ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone. Unacceptable behavior and harassment will not be tolerated during any portion this event.

Harassment includes offensive verbal/online comments related to race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, country of origin, age, disability, physical appearance, body size, religion, veteran status or other protected class status; discriminatory or offensive images in virtual sessions; intimidation. Participants violating the code of conduct may be warned or be asked to leave (disconnect), by RRF organizers.

Accessibility

Northwestern University Libraries and RRF is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all RRF events and programs. Accommodations such as captioning, sign language interpreters, and presentation materials in alternate formats are provided upon request.
