Connected geosystems

Within the scope of connected geosystems, research is being performed to conceptually develop novel subsurface networks that rely of structures and structural systems to provide renewable and waste thermal energy at the district and city scale. In the context of this research, a variety of experimental, analytical and numerical techniques are employed to quantify the amounts of heat that can be harvested from the subsurface for distributed purposes as well as the impact of energy exploitation at such large scales on the multiphysical behavior of the subsurface.
