Broadly speaking, I am interested in numbers, number systems, and how they connect to other domains. My current research explores how language used for measuring and counting influences the type of judgments individuals make about quantity.

My research is on how people reason about abstract domains, such as mathematics. Currently, I am focused on the role of explanation in mathematics, and what constraints people use when evaluating mathematical explanations, but I’m also interested in how people reason about number systems.

I’m broadly interested in argumentative reasoning, abductive reasoning, mathematical proof and naïve physics. My current research is on misconceptions in frictional forces.
