“The Discovery of Pulsars and theirĀ Extreme Physics”
Abstract
In this talk I will describe how pulsars came to be discovered and discuss their main physical properties. With high densities, relativistic speeds, large gravitational forces, and strong electric and magnetic fields, fully understanding these objects is a challenge. Through these extremes pulsars are useful objects for testing theories of relativity and gravitation, and (time permitting) I will describe some of these tests.
