Brenna Argall, PhD

Dr. Argall is an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Northwestern University. She is founder and director of the assistive & rehabilitation robotics laboratory (argallab) at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago), the nation’s premier rehabilitation hospital. The mission of the argallab is to advance human ability, by leveraging robotics autonomy.

 

Jered Dean

CO-PI, LUCI,  LLC

Jered Dean is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at LUCI, where he brings his decade-long experience in new product development to life. Jered founded the company in 2017 with his brother, Barry, in hopes of creating a technology that could improve life in a power wheelchair for his niece, Katherine. As CTO, he heads all product development and innovation, overseeing a team of more than 15 engineers in Denver, Colo.

 

Kevin Rowland

Kevin Rowland is living with ALS, has background in a spread of technology sectors and a deep understanding of our technology’s capabilities, and previously developed his own custom interfaces. In Phase 1 of our project, he made significant code contributions to our proof-of-concept flexible interface. Remarkably, all of his code was written using an eye gaze interface.

Daniel Vance, LOTR, ATP

Daniel Vance has been with the team from day one, and is an assistive technology and equipment specialist. In Phase 1, he provided clinical insight and assistive technology expertise across all thrusts of the project, and attended the innovation curriculum.

 

Sung Kim, MS

Function Engineering

Sung Kim is a mechanical engineer and President of Function Engineering with extensive experience in product development  including in the robotic field.

Stacie Brown

Northwestern University

Stacie Brown is a project administrator at Northwestern with a diverse background in technology and design. She has been coordinating and manging the team throughout Phase 1.
