Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE)

What’s PCI DSS? | Definitions | Requirements | Cardholder Data | Data Security | Quiz

You will be reading a lot about point-to-point encryption, or P2PE, in this training.

The PCI council determined that P2PE is the most secure way to process payment cards. It encrypts the card information at the point of the device (swipe, type, or chip), so no unencrypted cardholder data travels across the Northwestern University network.

No cardholder data travels across the Northwestern University network.

Additionally, if someone were to hack into the network and look for payment card data, they would only find tokens, not the actual card number, which is useless information for a hacker.

P2PE is a University requirement for all departments.

Utilizing P2PE reduces the PCI compliance costs and the effort required for your department. The University has adapted this standard across campus for all departments to process on PCI validated P2PE solutions. To inquire about P2PE solutions, contact Treasury Operations or Arrow Payments.
