Join the Team

Recruitment for the Northwestern Ski Team starts at the beginning of fall quarter. We will have several info sessions and informal gatherings so you can get to know us and how the team works. Contact our recruitment chairs to make sure you are put on our email lists so you can get notifications about upcoming recruitment events. Because we are a racing team and we have limited spots available, we rarely accept people who have never skied or snowboarded before.

There are three types of membership within the NU Ski Team: Racing Members, Practice Members and Park Members.  Each type of membership has its perks and is geared towards different goals or levels of commitment.  If you’re a seasoned racer or an experienced skier or snowboarder ready to take it to the next level, the Race Team is for you.  New to racing and are looking to get a little more experience? Love to ride and want to be on the snow all winter but don’t have the time to race every weekend? You’re probably more suited for the Practice Team. Would you rather spend the day in the park than race between gates? Then the Park Team is for you. Read below for a little more info on each team.

Race Team

As part of the Race Team, you will be a full USCSA racing member of the Northwestern Ski Team.  You’ll be eligible for every race throughout the season and will be encouraged to come to any and all practice sessions.  Additionally, you will be involved in any fundraisers and campus events, along with encouraged involvement in various events sponsored throughout the year by the NU Ski Team.

Dues = $310*

Practice Team

By being a part of the Practice Team, you can get the best of both worlds.  You will be able to increase your skiing or boarding skill level – either on the race course or in the park – by participating in weeknight practice sessions.  As with the Race Team, you will also be able and encouraged to participate in all non-race events put on throughout the year.  The Practice Team is a great way to not only get more familiar with the sport, polish your skills, and stay on the snow, but also to get to know the team and to prepare for anticipated future Race Team membership.

Dues = $110*

Park Team

If you’re on Park Team, you will be able to go to races and practices, competing in park events when available. USCSA and MCSA race weekends often include rail jams and other freestyle competitions, which you will participate in instead of running gates with the Race Team.

Dues = $250*
