About

Who are we?

The NU Ski Team is comprised of  passionate skiers and boarders enrolled at Northwestern University (NU). Our athletes represent a wide cross-section of the student body, spanning 5 years and all NU schools. The team was established in the early 1990’s and has experienced steady growth ever since. In particular, the last 5 seasons have seen the team reach record numbers and an unparalleled level of passion and dedication. As a competitive group, we race throughout the Midwest during our winter quarter of school against a wide range of schools. These include Wisconsin, Iowa State, Ohio State, Minnesota – Duluth, and many more. As a part of the action sports community, we strive to promote the sports we love through on and off campus events to build strong and positive ties within our community. The success of our team would not have been possible without the unparalleled dedication of its members and those who support it.

Where do we ski?

One of the most frequent questions asked is where we actually go skiing. After all, the Chicagoland area is quite flat. We go skiing on some hills that are among the Midwest’s best! We train twice a week at Wilmot Mountain, which is about an hour away in Wisconsin. Our first race of the year is at . Last year, we had races at Mt. La Crosse in Wisconsin, Crystal Mountain in Michigan, and Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, Illinois. Each year, we compete in the Midwest Regional Championships, held in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, at Marquette Mountain. The team also sends several members a year to the USCSA Nationals, located last year at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon.
