UPCOMING EVENTS | REMINDERSPAST EVENTS | PREVIOUS NEWSLETTERS

Hello Northwestern Staff and welcome to the Fall quarter. I hope the new academic year is starting off great. For those who don’t know me, my name is Nate Daigle and I am the new NUSAC Chair. I am currently a Senior Academic Advisor at Kellogg and have been a proud member of this committee since 2017. I look forward to continuing on the great traditions of this organization and leading some new initiatives in the coming year.

As we look forward to an exciting Fall, I’d like to highlight some events we recently concluded. Our School Supply Drive organized by our Outreach committee was a huge success. We were able to deliver multiple car loads of school supplies, toys, and backpacks to Family Focus Evanston and Gale Community Academy in Chicago thanks to the generous donations made by you across our campuses.

On September 14, we hosted a staff mixer at the NU Wildcats vs. UNLV Rebels football game. It was a beautiful day on the Randy Walker Terrace where we welcomed over 300 staff and family members for some delicious tailgate food, camaraderie, and a Wildcat win. Thank you to NU Athletics and NU HR for helping us make it an excellent event.

Coming up in October, we will have a table at the Health and Benefits Fair in both Evanston and Chicago. Stop by, say hello, and help us plan for the new year. There will be lot of great resources at both fairs as we continue to promote health and wellness. We are looking forward to the Holiday Drive coming up again this Christmas. Keep your eyes out for more details soon to help make the holidays great for families in our community. Also, save the date next year for Conversations with the President, April 16 in Chicago and April 23 in Evanston.

Lastly I’d like to happily say we welcomed 7 new members to NUSAC this year. We are so excited to have such fantastic involvement from our staff across both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. I’m looking forward to an excellent year and I hope you are too.

Thank you and Go ‘Cats!

NUSAC Holiday Drive

November – December
It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is rapidly approaching. For many, it is a time to enjoy the gifts of the season: family, friends, spiritual reflection, food and gifts. Yet, there are those among us who have little to celebrate or children who will awaken to no tree or presents.

We invite you to join us once again for the NUSAC Holiday Drive. We are partnering with the same organizations as last year, Marillac House, Family Focus, Infant Welfare Society, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, Heartland Alliance, and La Casa Norte. Whether you donate as an individual or collectively as a team to adopt a family, no contribution is too small. Updates on the Drive and the location of collection sites coming soon!

School Supply Drive - Thank you!

August-September 2019
The generosity of the Northwestern community continues to overwhelm the Outreach committee and our community partners. Thank you!

The donations were received with great smiles and appreciative hearts. A note from Family Focus Evanston’s Program Manager, sums it up best: “We appreciate everything. It means so much for youth to get a great start in school with school supplies.” Many, many thanks!

Chicago Ice Cream Social

August 2019
NUSAC hosted an inaugural Ice Cream Social on the Chicago campus in the Pritzker Law School Courtyard. Attendees enjoyed a variety of ice cream bars, learned about each other’s favorite ice cream flavors and played NUSAC Bingo.

We’re looking forward to hosting the event in Summer 2020 on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses.

Growing your Career Workshops

July 2019
NUSAC partnered with Northwestern Office of Human Resources to host the Growing Your Career workshops on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses.
