May 6, 2023 NUSAC Spring Staff Mixer

NUSAC will be hosting a staff mixer event on Saturday, May 6 to cheer on Northwestern Men’s baseball at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park as they take on Indiana at 1pm, CT. We will also be hosting a pre-game mixer for staff attendees.

Free tickets will be provided to the first 100 respondents!

 

 

February 23, 2023: NUSAC Winter Term Mixer

NUSAC will be hosting a staff mixer event on February 23 to cheer on Northwestern Women’s basketball at Welsh-Ryan Arena as they take on Wisconsin at 6pm, CT.

February 16, 2023: Online Info Session: Credit and Its Impact on You

Over the last three years the global pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives including your credit. Please join us for this online session to learn the basics of credit (what is credit, who are the credit bureaus, and building credit) as well as impacts of the pandemic and what is happening in today’s economy with inflation and rising interest rates. Included will be information on the student loan pause of repayment and potential forgiveness. Please join us for this important session on understanding credit and its impact on our lives. Veronica Herrera, Director of Product Management at Experian will facilitate this session. November 23, 2022: Northwestern Volleyball Faculty & Staff Appreciation Game!

Northwestern Athletics would like to invite you to join Northwestern Volleyball this Wednesday, November 23rd at 7 PM when we take on #15 Penn State  for our Faculty & Staff Appreciation Game! We will be celebrating all those on campus who support our student-athletes every day! December 2022: NUSAC Winter Drive 2022

The NUSAC Winter Drive is an opportunity for NU staff to come together to support areas of our community, provide support virtually or to connect with more personalized giving during our winter season. 

We have identified four organizations we have partnered with in the past and look forward to sharing our NU community spirit with again this season. 

This year we are presenting options for which staff may volunteer their time as well as providing opportunities to make gifts to local organizations in need. Please visit our NUSAC Winter Drive page for details.

July 28: Growing Your Career Virtual Workshop 

NUSAC is looking forward to hosting the Growing Your Career Workshop in partnership with the Office of Human Resources.

The event will be offered virtually on Thursday, July 28, from 9am – 12pm.

The session will begin with a keynote address given by Lorraine Goffe, Vice President for Human Resources. All sessions are facilitated by Human Resources staff.

March 6, 2022 – NUSAC Winter Mixer – Northwestern Men’s Basketball Game
Join NUSAC at the Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) as the Wildcats take on Minnesota.  The event includes light pregame snacks followed by an evening of Big Ten men’s basketball. April 6, 2022 – Conversations with Senior Leaders
The next Conversations with Senior Leaders event will take place on Wednesday, April 6 at 10:30am – Chicago Campus, Thorne Auditorium.  The panelists include Mandy Distel, Senior Associate Vice President for Finance and Treasurer; Luke Figora, Vice President for Operations; Lorraine Goffe, Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resource Officer; and Milan Mrksich, Vice President for Research. The event will be in-person with a live stream.  Questions can be submitted in advance until March 18.

February 24, 2022 – Understanding NU’s Financial Statements

Join NUSAC for Understanding NU’s Financial Statements, a lunch and learn virtual event on Thursday, February 24 at 12pm.  Nicole Van Laan (Controller, Office of Financial Operations) will provide insights on financial concepts and the ways they impact Northwestern.  After Nicole’s presentation, there will be an opportunity for staff employees to share feedback about their experiences at NU. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 – NUSAC Winter Brown Bag: Navigating the Seas of Organizational Change
Join NUSAC for a virtual brown bag this quarter. This webinar will help participants learn about navigating organizational change and its associated stress. Ellen Burton will facilitate this brown bag and discuss how to practice stress-reduction techniques, learn effective problem-solving skills and develop internal and external support networks.
Following this webinar, participants will be better able to:  Understand the stages of change; Utilize effective coping mechanisms for dealing with change; and Approach change with a positive and proactive attitude.

Join NUSAC for our first virtual brown bag of the academic year. This webinar will help participants learn tips for managing anxiety and challenging emotions in a world that can sometimes seem divided, troubling and difficult to navigate. Ellen Burton will facilitate this virtual brown bag and discuss strategies to support well-being and resilience and how to reduce the negative impact of stressful events, distressing news and challenging conversations.

Conversations with the President are opportunities for President Morton Schapiro to discuss key issues facing the University with staff, faculty and students. The forums, which are are co-sponsored by the Northwestern University Staff Advisory Council (NUSAC), the Faculty Senate and the Office of the President, are webcast live.
