Rachel had an amazing time living in Warsaw over the past academic year which proved to be rewarding in both anticipated and unexpected ways. Thanks to her Fulbright fellowship, she had ample time to track down an enormous amount of primary source materials related to her dissertation, in both Polish and Yiddish, and visited more than a dozen archives throughout Poland over the year. While in Europe, she presented her research at the University of Warsaw, POLIN Museum for the History of Polish Jews, the Fulbright Berlin Seminar, the ASEEES Summer Convention in Zagreb, and the BASEES Conference in Cambridge. Beyond her work and research, however, Rachel was also delighted to have returned to the stage: she performed (po polsku) at Teatr Powszechny in Strefa WolnoSłowa’s devised theatre piece, “Włącz bojler. Niech czeka na mnie chociaż ciepła woda.” She can’t wait to return to Warsaw in late August, supported by a Fulbright grant extension, and is excited to be performing again at Teatr Powszechny in October.
