Our Areas of Action

Career and Professional Development

We provide the postdoc community with programs and resources to aid in career exploration and professional development across all disciplines and career paths.

Social Activities

It’s hard to make friends as an adult. We plan fun social events where postdocs can relax, enjoy food and local activities, and get to know one another beyond their everyday work.

Annual Symposium

Every year we organize a professional development symposium for all postdocs of Northwestern.

Operations

NUPA is a volunteer organization comprised of all postdocs at Northwestern University and governed by an elected Executive Committee and appointed sub-committees.

All Northwestern University Postdocs are welcome to join our events and twice monthly planning meetings.

History

History

We formed in 2012 as Northwestern University Postdoctoral Forum (NUPF). In September 2018, in recognition of our organization’s growth and development beyond a forum, we changed our name to Northwestern University Postdoctoral Association (NUPA).

NUPA is Northwestern’s first and only postdoctoral organization. Once every two weeks, we work with administrators in Northwestern’s Graduate School and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to advocate for postdoc needs, plan activities, and build community among postdocs. We negotiate our basal budget semi-annually with individual departments and schools of Northwestern. We are a member of the National Postdoc Association.
