Maria Fantozzi, Executive Director, is a senior in Weinberg studying History, with minors in Spanish and Latina/o Studies. After graduation she plans on pursuing a career in teaching, and is passionate about providing access to quality education. Outside of NUCHR, Maria is a Books & Breakfast tutor who also enjoys running, reading, and taking up space at Dunkin’ Donuts. Tara Mittelberg, Director of Speaker Relations, is a senior majoring in Environmental Science and International Studies. She is interested in food security, agriculture, and sustainability. In her spare time she likes to run, try new foods, and be in denial of the fact that she has to figure out what she wants to do after graduation. Arpan Doshi, Director of Speaker Relations, is a senior from Mumbai, India studying political science and philosophy. He is the speaker relations co-chair and will be responsible for bringing an exciting lineup of speakers for the coming conference. He is interested in international humanitarian law, especially military humanitarian intervention which he did research on this summer. He is also a member of the rowing team and plays the piano for fun! Kristen Campbell, Director of Programming, is a senior majoring in History and International Studies with a minor in French. In addition to NUCHR, Kristen is also involved in the Cercle Francophone. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the trumpet, exploring different areas of Chicago, and eating as many cheese puffs as possible in one sitting. Callie Leone, Director of Delegate Development, is a junior studying economics and political science. This is her third year in NUCHR. Within human rights, she is particularly interested in women’s rights, environmental issues, and intersectional politics on an international scale. She is presently studying in Japan where she is eating everything in sight. Emma Zblewski, Director of Delegate Development, is a junior studying Cultural Anthropology, Global Health, and Premedical Studies. She is an unapologetic lover of Wisconsin cheese, chocolate chip cookies, and mangoes. Perhaps more importantly, she is passionate about an unfeasible number of things, and will talk incessantly about her experience studying public health in Cuba until you have to ask her to stop. Liam “The Comm Devil” White, Director of Community Development, hails from Boston, MA and aspires to build upon the city’s proud legacy of freedom fighting. He will be spending the Fall in Salvador, Brazil, studying Public Health and Human Rights, putting his remarkably mobile hips to good use on local dance floors, and kickstarting a beach volleyball career with an eye towards Tokyo 2020. In addition to being the reigning NUCHR lasagna cook-off champion, Liam is a huge soccer fan and fiercely advocates that women should have equal access and opportunity to play the beautiful game. He is continually blown away by the intelligence and charisma of the rest of the executive board, and could not be more excited to execute a fantastic conference with them in January. Carolina Laguna, Director of Community Development, is a sophomore studying Social Policy and International Studies with a minor in Political Science. When she’s not developing NUCHR’s community, she’s an active member of the Fossil Free NU, Students for Sensible Drug Policy, and her sorority’s philanthropy community. Carolina believes that climate change is the biggest threat to human rights and looks forward to helping make the world a more equal and sustainable place. Melody Park, Director of Marketing, is a sophomore from Los Angeles studying Journalism and Economics. She exclusively reads nonfiction books, typically ones relating to social justice. She’s not good at signing up for free trial memberships because she consistently forgets to cancel them. Melody loves cities, live music, black coffee and beautiful sneakers. Kathleen Nganga, Director of Education, is a Political Science major. She has a commitment to social justice, or the belief in equity, equality of opportunities, and egalitarianism. In her free time she enjoys reading, snowshoeing, and the great outdoors. Jonathan Wrobel, Director of Finance and Operations, also leads They Forget, We Remember, an Alzheimer’s fundraising group, and is a member of the Analytics Committee on student government. He is passionate about LGBT rights, racial justice, and internet freedom, working with CommunityRED on these issues. He likes Ben & Jerry’s and contemporary fiction. Jessica Saffold, Director of Finance, is from Denver, Colorado and is a sophomore at Northwestern University. She is a pre-med student pursuing a double major in Communication Sciences and Disorders and International Studies. She is involved in the Northwestern Community for Human Rights as part of the Finance Committee and in her free time she enjoys spending time with friends, exploring Chicago, and trying new foods. Megan Angell, Director of Fundraising, is a sophomore from Naperville, Illinois double majoring in Economics and MMSS. She hopes to work in public policy and pursue graduate school in economics. In her free time she loves to read, travel, and explore the outdoors. Yerim Kim, Director of Logistics, is a Weinberg sophomore from South Korea, still exploring different areas of study. Currently, she is interested in pursuing a career that can both allow her to travel and help others. When Yerim focuses on non-academic work, she enjoys watching movies, playing the piano, and sending really funny gifs to her friends. Jo Machesky, Director of Logistics, is from Champaign, Illinois majoring in Environmental Engineering and Integrated Science. Other than NUCHR Jo works at NUIT, helps plan the energy and sustainbility career fair, and conducts undergraduate researching the chemistry department. In her free time she loves to cook and eat all the food, watch British crime dramas, and go hiking. Gaby Dago, Director of Trip, is from Chicago and loves to travel. She has the privilege of being on Trip Exec this year! Last year, she lived in Santiago, Chile for six months during an exchange at Pontificia Catolica Universidad de Chile and this past summer she studied German in Leipzig, Germany. She hopes that you’ll join her for our NUCHR trip this spring break!
