ABOUT US

Northwestern’s student chapter of Engineers Without Borders was founded in 2013 by a group of Junior engineering students. In the fall of 2013, EWB-NU started a partnership with the non-profit organization, My Chosen Vessels, which was working to bring clean water to a small village in Kenya. EWB-NU took on the engineering responsibilities of the project, bringing in students and local professional mentors to plan surveying of the village, water testing, and water distribution systems. The group took its first assessment trip in March 2014.

Since then, EWB-NU has grown to involve dozens of students as we continue to work to improve the lives of communities in need. As our membership and involvement continues to grow, we will strive to make positive change for the international community.

EWB-NU supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. Our vision is a world in which the communities we serve have the capacity to sustainably meet their basic human needs and that our members have enriched global perspectives through the innovative professional education opportunities that the EWB-USA program provides.
