Pakistani born, raised for more than half his life in Pakistan and the remaining in the US and Sudan, Ali has seen the world. From his own background back in Pakistan or from his time in Sudan, the underprivileged have always been something he wanted to speak up about. Being a part of NorthPressTern has given him that chance with him also bringing in his own viewpoints to lead the team to prosperity.

 

 

Rea Singh Mishra

Enjoying writing from a young age, Rea has previously worked for two English national dailies back in her home country, Nepal. Being born in London, but raised in Kathmandu, she has experienced two vastly different worlds, enlightening her on the fact that there are numerous stories all around the globe which are important, yet neglected. Thus, it has become her mission here at NorthPressTern to try to represent the unrepresented.

 

 

Farouk Essalhi

Having been a film enthusiast since his early childhood, Farouk has decided to pursue his passion for videography at NUQ, one that he has polished and developed for years now. Farouk is the Founder & Director of the Moroccan Youth Film Festival, the first ever film festival dedicated to students aged 19 or younger in Morocco. Outside of academics Farouk plays football, does videography, and swims.

Hajar ElMalem is a Moroccan Qatari that  believes in any story from anywhere as long as it is true and meaningful. She speaks Arabic, English and french and believes that this allows her to interact with people better and create better connections around the world as well as in Qatar as it is filled with diversity. Her main goal is to find pressing stories that reside in Qatar but also relate to what has been happening in Lebanon.

 

Chadi Lasri

Chadi Lasri, born in South Korea and raised in Morocco, is an extremely likable individual. With the ability to get along with each and every person around him, he can easily exchange important stories in a comfortable environment. These social qualities of his has made him the perfect person to voice people’s stories on Instagram.

Hoi Leng Iam (Marcel)

Hoi Leng Iam (Marcel) is an active and talkative guy who wants to reach out to everyone and have conversations with them. He has a big objective on his bucket list: to bring everyone an equal platform where they can voice out their own opinion freely. With this in mind, there is no surprise that he takes charge of the NorthPressTern’s Vox Pops without hesitation.

 

 

Noura AlShantti

Noura Al-Shantti is a Palestinian ambitious journalist that aspires to cover stories that are crucial around the globe. In a world full of fake news, she aims to reveal the true stories. Noura’s interests include politics, Arabic literature, and traveling.

Maya Alississ is Palestinian, but born and raised in Jordan. Maya is one of the sweetest individuals around, thus, everyone falls in love with her kind heart. At NorthPressTern, she uses her extraordinary talents for investigative journalism to find out the most relevant and interesting stories for the data story.

 

 

 

 

Omar Chehab

Omar Chehab is born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. Omar is extremely engaged in several activities, such as debate, chess, and football. Furthermore, he possesses leadership qualities too, as he hopes to leave a trace everywhere he goes.

Monazza Asif Farooqi

Monazza Asif Farooqi, born and raised in Pakistan, is an extremely intellectual individual who always seems to make the right decision. Compassionate and opinionated, she is strives passionately for change for the better. At NorthPressTern, she uses these qualities to tell stories for those she believes deserves more recognition by using her intellect to do so in creative ways, such as the interactive story.

Raghdan Alhennawi

Raghdan Al-Hennawi Shalgheen, aka Raggi,  represents the best of both worlds – Syrian welcomeness and Venezuelan high spirits making him one of the most outgoing individuals. At NorthPressTern, he uses his creativeness to promote social equality with the interactive story.

Beatričė Žemelytė, born and raised in Lithuania, believes in voicing her opinion. Anyone and everyone who has come into contact with Žemelytė know how passionate she is in advocating for the rights of all beings, regardless of their race, gender or religion. Mary Kuriyan is an Indian who was raised in Texas for 15 years. Mary is extremely popular for her mesmerizing voice, which she uses on NorthPressTern’s podcast to raise awareness about social issues both globally and domestically here in Doha.
