Professor Rodriguez Discusses the Educational Piece of the Puzzle for Allied Legal Professionals

In the following article, Dan Rodriguez, the Harold Washington Professor and former dean at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, discusses efforts to increase access to legal services through the use of legal professionals who are not licensed lawyers. He focuses on how these “Allied Legal Professionals” (ALPs) might be educated to effectively represent clients, and proposes training in legal & regulatory process, ethics & professional responsibility, and written & oral communication.

Professor Rodriguez teaches Legal & Regulatory Process and the Entrepreneurship Team Project class in the MSL Program. He is a past president of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), and Council Member of the American Law Institute (ALI).
