Dear students,
Welcome Wildcats! Today we celebrate the start of a new academic year. As we enter the fall quarter the MSA team wants you to know that we are committed to remaining connected while socially distancing. MSA will continue to provide programs that support your identity development, allow for community engagement, support your academic experience, develop you as a leader, and center your wellness. We will continue to advise student groups and support inclusivity efforts through our InclusionNU Fund. Our team remains available for one on one check-ins, mentorship opportunities, and to serve as your advocate. We will maintain employing our undergraduate Office Assistants and will ensure they continue to have a developmental experience that will prepare them for life post-Northwestern.
As we welcome you to the Fall Quarter, we also hold what is happening in our world. From the devastation of climate change, the COVID-19 global pandemic, violence inflicted upon Black bodies by the state, xenophobia, transphobia, and the impending election. Our goal in MSA is to never shy away from these realities. We strive to support you, support one another, uplift our collective communities, and harness critical hope when we can.
This is a challenging time. We feel grief and sadness in our bodies and our souls. But those are not the only emotions taking up residence. Even with these realities directly impacting us and the communities we serve, we in MSA wake up, log on to our computers, launch Zoom, and are ready and eager to ensure you are a priority. We also feel passion for our work, committed to being in the community, and driven to advocate for and with you. Continue to connect with the land, take deep breaths, and remember – we got you.
In solidarity,
The Team at Multicultural Student Affairs
