Multicultural Student Affairs began all of our end of year celebrations with a moment to state BLACK LIVES MATTER. Our organization exists because of the steadfast resilience of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Brown, APIDA, LGBTQIA+ community members. It was only fitting that at the start of our celebrations, we took time to pay homage to our ancestors, and unapologetically declare our fight against anti-Blackness, institutional racism, state violence and other forms of hatred. We, as administrators who also hold marginalized identities, navigate a fine line of lifting up the experiences and the voices of the marginalized both in society and at Northwestern University. We exist in this tension, we are committed to shaping a different way of being for generations to come, and because of this we say, believe, and will continue to behave in such a way that lets our community know BLACK LIVES MATTER.
