Biosignature preservation in salt!

Humans have been preserving food in salt for millennia, but could salt be the keep to preserving evidence of extraterrestrial life? In this research project the Osburn lab, along with Alex Pontefract and Chris Carr from MIT, look into the role of salts in preserving a host of biological molecules. In a predictable fashion, the Osburn lab is specifically looking at lipid biomarkers production and preservation in these very salty lakes.
