Travel

Northwestern University is located in Evanston, IL, just north of Chicago. A detailed campus map can be found here.

Northwestern is readily accessible off CTA’s Purple Line and Metra’s Union Pacific North Line.

Air Travel

Chicago has two major airports: O’hare International Airport and Midway International Airport

O’hare is 30-45 minutes from downtown Evanston by car, and is served by most major airlines. Cabs from O’hare cost ~$35 (shared ride services are in the $10-30 range). The 250 Pace bus runs from O’hare to Evanston, and CTA can also be used to get to Evanston.

Midway is 45-60 minutes from downtown Evanston by car, and is served by Delta, Southwest, and a few smaller airlines. Cabs from Midway cost ~$55 (shared ride services are in the $15-45 range). Public transit from Midway to Evanston is available on CTA.

Train and Bus Travel

Amtrak serves Chicago Union Station in downtown Chicago. Evanston can be reached from Union Station on CTA or Metra in 45-60 minutes.

Greyhound has a bus terminal in downtown Chicago. Several smaller regional bus lines also travel to Chicago.

Parking

If you are driving to campus, parking lots can be found on this map in dark grey. Most parking lots are permit only Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. The parking garage by the Segal Visitors Center has pay-on-site parking during those hours. Parking in permitted lots is free on weekends and after 4pm during the week.
