Welcome to my Media and Politics digital portfolio!

I’m Laiba Mubashar, a passionate journalist who recently completed my Media and Politics minor as an undergraduate at Northwestern University in Qatar in collaboration with Georgetown University in Qatar. This website showcases my academic journey, highlighting my growth, insights, and experiences as I navigated the complex intersection of media and politics.

Throughout my coursework, I delved deep into the multifaceted relationship between media and political systems, exploring topics such as the role of social media in facilitating political change, the media’s influence on public sentiment, and the ethical considerations in journalism. My studies have taken me from the Arab Spring to the Syrian refugee crisis, from the politics of modern South Asia to the media’s role in shaping foreign policy discourse.

Central to my learning is a thought-provoking essay titled “Navigating the Intersection of Media and Politics: Reflections on a Transformative Educational Journey.” This piece serves as the cornerstone of my portfolio, offering a candid look into my intellectual growth and the key lessons I have learned. It is a testament to my ability to critically analyze the media landscape, confront biases, and advocate for inclusive and empathetic storytelling.

Complementing this reflective piece is a video essay detailing my journey. I have also included some of my discussion posts and papers from my courses. As you explore this website, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of my academic achievements, passion for ethical journalism, and dedication to making a difference in the world through my work.

I invite you to delve into my work, engage with my ideas, and join me on this journey towards a more informed, empathetic, and accountable media landscape. Through my experiences and reflections, I hope to inspire and contribute to the ongoing conversation about the crucial role of media in shaping our political and social realities.
